about
Belle was looking for adventure in the great wide somewhere. She found it in the strangest places; ones she thought couldn't exist outside of her storybooks.
personality
You should never judge a book by the cover, so the old adage goes and more than that, one should always beware the hidden layers that perpetually exist in a situation. Black and white situations exist in simple stories – myths. Though her daydreaming and whimsy is not meant as malicious, it does make her come across as aloof and distant to others. Belle is an emotional nomad in ways. She is not content to merely settle for something protected, secure, and safe. She relies on the belief that there is something better out there for her and keeps moving in an emotional sense so as to find her ‘true love’ or simply something more than a provincial life filled with unending and unchanging routine. She refuses to take the safe road and lead a life bereft of the potential for adventure and for so much more than she could ever plan. While family is dear to her, Belle grew up a lonely child and without many friends. Her own social shortcomings do mean that she has flaws. She is hardly aware of herself at times, can be often stubborn in fighting for her beliefs or her way, and refuses to conform in a society that would have that of her.
history
Once upon a time, there was a girl named Belle and she lived a simple life. From the very moment that Belle was conscious of what memory was, all she knew was that she had a father who loved her dearly. While she was not like other girls in possession of a mother, she was loved thoroughly and Belle grew up never knowing that she was missing out on motherly affection because her father was more than capable of making her feel safe, loved, and wanted. They spent their lives in the provincial towns of France while Belle’s Papa devoted his life to his inventions, the crazy and mad creations that would one day change their lives, as they both devoutly believed. He took ordinary items and made them something new. Her father left her one day for the possibility of a new life and he, too, took a darker path that led him to capture. Belle, never leaving rescue to others (especially with family involved) took Philippe and immediately charged to rescue her father from whatever ills had befallen him. What she found, she had never before imagined possible outside of her books: a castle in the woods filled with strange creatures in the form of household objects and within it all, a Beast holding her father captive. With little thought to her own wellbeing, Belle gave herself as prisoner so long as it meant her father could be free. While neither father nor daughter was happy with the decision, the deal was taken and Belle became a prisoner of a Beast. Belle slowly came to realize that the Beast was not just a monster, but a deeply wounded man and she began to develop a friendship with him that was quietly and slowly leading to something deeper. Perhaps she didn’t see a Prince Charming, but she was charmed with the notion of the Beast. The plot always turns just when it becomes complacent, however, and Belle changed settings once more when she realized her father was ill and needed her help.
