Jacob didn't merely wrinkle his nose, he actually growled. He remembered what Belle told him about Gaston and he was not a fan of anyone who couldn't take a hint when a lady didn't want to be with him. He also realized this was a double standard since he'd done the exact same thing to Bella a while back but the important thing was that he'd changed.
